  • Academics
    • Junior year is the last opportunity to raise your cumulative GPA
    • Course selection:6 core courses in senior year; Graduation credits=26
    • NCAA Eligibility Center: Division I or II: register at eligibilitycenter.org; check qualification requirements (16 core courses, SAT/ACT and GPA)
  • Explore Careers using Naviance: http://connection.naviance.com/cohs
    • Login=email address and password
    • Career Interest Profiler: “Career” tab (upper right); Explore
  • Research Colleges using Naviance To utilize the college research tools to compile a list of colleges where you are interested:  Under “My Favorites”; “Colleges I’m Thinking About”; on left “Quick Links”; under more Search Options (Supermatch, Advance College Search or College Lookup) or under College Research (Scattergrams, College Resources, Acceptance History, College Match, College Compare)
  • After list of colleges are compiled, under “Colleges I’m Thinking About”-add to the list,-look up college from drop down menu,-add college
  • Plan visiting colleges where you are interested
  • COHS Student Profile
    • “About Me” tab on right; “My Stuff”; “My Surveys” (on left)
    • Profile will be completed with Counseling Center in Spring
  • Request teacher recommendations
    • Ask teachers in person in May or June of Junior year
    • Send a request through Naviance: “My Favorites”; “Colleges I’m Thinking About”; Quick Links on left, scroll down under My Colleges to Letters of Recommendation (in blue); click blue ADD REQUEST button on the right, select teacher from drop down menu. and click circle “All Current and Future Colleges I Add to My Colleges I’m Applying To list; add a personal thank you note; click blue SUBMIT REQUEST button on the bottom right.
  • SATs and/or ACTs
  • Test preparation: Collegeboard or Kahn Academy kahnacademy.org  (use cohs email account for login)
  • Recommended to take once in Spring of Junior year and then again Senior year
  • SATs: register at. sat.org–8/25/18 (deadline 7/27); 10/6/18(deadline 9/7); 11/3/18(deadline 10/5); 12/1/18(deadline 11/2); 3/9/19(deadline 2/8); 5/4/19(deadline 4/5); 6/1/19(deadline 5/3)
