 College Application Procedures 2023-2024
 
Begin Application Process (suggested submission by October-early November)
  • Common Application:  If you are applying using the Common Application (commonapp.org), you must first create an account (*note:  the email address used should be the same as the one used for Naviance in order to "Match" your common App and Naviance).
  • On-line Applications:  Complete and submit on-line applications through the individual college/university website.
FAFSA® Deadlines (2023–24) apply at studentaid.gov

To be considered for federal student aid for the 2023–24 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form between Oct. 1, 2022, and 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2024. Any FAFSA corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 14, 2024.

  • To add colleges on Naviance:  go to "Colleges I am Applying To"; + sign; add the name of the college; Select application type from drop down menu; Select from drop down menu how you will apply (Common App or Direct to Institution); Check box ONLY if application was submitted; Click "Add Application"; After you submit the application, change status to "submitted" on your list of "Colleges I'm Applying To."
 
Send SAT/ACT scores - Go to:  www.collegeboard.org
  • SAT:  register at www.sat.org 10/7/23, 11/4/23, 12/2/23
  • Digital SAT:  3/9/24, 5/4/24, 6/1/24
  • ACT:  register at www.act.org - 9/9/23, 10/28/23, 12/9/23, 2/10/24, 4/13/24, 6/8/24, 7/13/24
  • Complete Counseling Center's orange transcript request form
  • Fill out the orange transcript request form in the counseling Center (up to five colleges per form)
  • Each transcript request is $5 (per college)
  • Transcripts, school forms, and recommendations will be electronically sent through Naviance or by mail

Notes:  If you are an athlete and planning on playing a Division I or II sport in college, register with the NCAA Eligibility Centerwww.eligibilitycenter.org  Check qualification requirements (16 core courses, SAT's, GPA).  After 3-4 weeks, go to websites of colleges applied to check status of applications - only completed applications are reviewed for acceptance.  Scholarship opportunities that come to the attention of the counseling Center are listed on Naviance under the College tab. 
 
Important Reminders:
Transcripts can only be sent by the Guidance Office if your FACTS account is up to date.  Please check your FACTS account each month to prevent any delays in your child's college application process.
