Happy Earth Day!

There will be a brief planning meeting for the Freshman dance directly after school on Thursday, April 24th in Miss McNamara's room, room 349. Come help make the freshman dance a night to remember!

Mane Event fundraiser this week.....we are asking $5.00 from every student.  Hope you participate in the Chick-Fil-A fundraiser.

Student Council Officer Nomination forms are available outside of the Student Council Office.  Forms are due back by next Monday.  Good luck!

The Next Meeting of THE O'HERALD will be today.after school in the English Center.  We will be working on the final edition for the year.  Anyone interested in working on the newspaper next is encouraged to attend.

Tomorrow, Tuesday April 22 is Earth Day.  Permission has been granted to wear a Green or Blue Tee Shirt in place of your Golf Shirt.  All other parts of the uniform code will stay in place.  Genesis asks that you make a special Earth Day Effort!

This is a reminder that we will have a 12:00 p.m. dismissal tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16th for our faculty retreat.  All districts will bus that day with the exception of Springfield, William Penn, Radnor and SEPTA.  Chester-Upland will have no transportation on Monday, April 21st, a regular school day and make-up snow day.

The Junior Prom will be on Friday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m.  Ticket sales end on April 16th.  Please make sure permission forms and tickets are purchased by that time.  Tickets are available in the Tuition Office and on-line at cohsstore.com 

The Freshman Dance tickets are also on sale.  The Freshman Dance is on Friday, May9th from 8:00-11:00 p.m.  Tickets are on-sale at cohsstore.com or in the tuition office.  All freshmen received permission forms.  Extras are available in the Student Affairs Office.

The Senior Prom tickets are on sale.   The Senior Prom is on Friday, May 16th from 8:00-1:00 a.m. at The Drexelbrook. 

For all formal dances, students are expected to be in school for the full day.  Students may not be dismissed early for any reason or they are not permitted to attend the prom that evening.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Guyger or Mrs. Lanza.

Senior portraits for the class of 2015 begin on Monday, April 28th.  A postcard with appointment information and portrait information is being mailed to you.  Please contact klanza@cohs.com if you did not receive the information.

Battle of the Bands is tonight from 8:00-11:00 p.m.  Are you coming?  Tickets are on sale in the Student Affairs Office $10.00.  Three student bands, one alumni band, prizes, dancing, music, fun!  Come out and rock with Cardinal O'Hara!

Attention all cast members of "Once Upon a Mattress".  Patron ads and greetings are due next week for the playbill for the spring show.  Download the forms from the website or pick up a copy in Room 110.  Returns ads to Mr. Kelly in room 110.

Any student, boy or girl, interested in playing Ultimate Frisbee can sign up in the Athletic Office all this week.  We are especially looking for sophomores and freshmen.  It counts for Renaissance, so join up and get in on the fun!

Anyone who is working on an article for the upcoming edition of The O'Herald, please remember to get a copy to Mrs. Borusiewicz for review BEFORE submitting it electronically.  Due dates for articles for publication is March 19th.

The Big Buddy trip for Our Lady of Angels has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20th.

This year's 3 on 3 basketball tournament to raise money for Cycstic Fibrosis research will be held on Tuesday, March 18th.  Team registration forms are available in the Student Affairs office.  They are due today.  Grab a few friends and enter a team!

Please update your Naviance Account for college acceptances and scholarships received.  In April and May the list of college acceptances and scholarships will be finalized from the Counseling Center.  The list of scholarships will appear on the official program at Graduation.  Please bring scholarship letters to the Counseling Center.

THERE IS A GENESIS MEETING   FOR SURE  ON TUESDAY, MARCH 11 IN ROOM 113.  GENESIS IS ORGANIZING A BATTERY COLLECTION THIS YEAR.  MORE DETAILS TO COME.

The O'Hara Choir is going to New York to see the Broadway musical, Disney's The Lion King. A $100 deposit is due by March 10th. Deposits can be given to Mr. Brac or left in the Student Affairs office. Join us for a great day in NYC.

The scheduled GENESIS meeting for today has been cancelled.  It has been re scheduled for next Tuesday in Room 113.

Anyone who is a member of the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union is eligible for a $1500 scholarship.  The forms are in the Guidance Office.  These forms are also due by February 1st.
 
There is a $12,000 scholarship available to anyone who plans to enter college for training in the field of education.

Announcements for Thursday, January 23, 2014

There will be a Renaissance breakfast TODAY for all eligible Renaissance members at 3rd period.  Invitations will be in mailboxes today during homeroom.  If you have an assessment during 3rd period, please report to your assessment.  You may pick up your donut at lunch time in the Student Affairs Office.  

Dodge Ball is today at 6:00 p.m.!  Come out and support your favorite team.  

The end of the Second Quarter/First Semester is January 24th and the beginning of the Third Quarter/Second Semester is January 27th.

There will be no Robotics meeting today.  The meeting will resume next Thursday.

Our Winter Chance Drive is currently underway. Quota is $100.00. The last day for student eligibility is Monday, February 3rd and the drawing is on Friday, February 7th..

The March for Life, scheduled for today, January 22nd has been CANCELLED due to the weather.
