Cardinal O’Hara High School is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Michael P. Donahue as its new Athletic Director. Mr. Donahue holds a BS in Secondary Social Studies Education from Elizabethtown College and an MS in Sport Management from Drexel University. A graduate of Lansdale Catholic, he was an All-Conference (PAC-10) athlete in baseball and football. He went on to play baseball at Elizabethtown College where he was a four-year starter and team captain during his senior year. He was a member of the 2006 and 2007 Commonwealth Conference Championship teams, collected All Conference honors in 2006 and was selected to the All Mid-Atlantic Tournament Team in 2007.
Donahue has taught at the high school level and coached student athletes from elementary to the collegiate level. He is a graduate of the United States Marine Corp Basic and Officer Candidate Schools and served a tour of duty in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, attaining the rank of Captain. While pursuing his Masters degree he served as a graduate assistant at Drexel University, assisting student athletes academically, coordinating events and serving on the Dragon Leadership Academy Committee.
"I am very humbled and excited by the wonderful opportunity to join the Cardinal O'Hara community as its new Athletic Director. It is an excellent academic and athletic institution and I am eager to contribute to its outstanding reputation,” says Donahue. “We will be dedicated to developing our student-athletes into the best leaders they are capable of becoming, while providing them, and the entire O'Hara community, with a first rate experience unlike any other in the Philadelphia Catholic League. A meet and greet social will be held for Mr. Donahue on Tuesday, June 21st, 6:30 - 7:30 PM in the front lobby of O’Hara. All are welcome to attend.
Mr. Donahue officially begins his duties on July 1st.
