Alea Mettler (Florin) ’2011 was called to Holy Matrimony and is expecting her second child. She and her husband are graduates of North Dakota State University and are raising their family in Fargo, North Dakota, and are employed in parish ministry in the area. Here is a testimony she shared while she was in college:
Chesterton Academy prepared me for college academically, but it also prepared me to live out and defend my Catholic Faith. At Chesterton Academy, I was spoiled because our faculty faithfully follows the teachings of the Catholic Church, and the Catholic faith is incorporated into every subject. I am now attending a secular university and must continually stand up for what I believe. Chesterton Academy, my wonderful family, and the grace of God have made it possible for me to thrive not only academically, but also spiritually, in this environment.
Joseph Barron ’2011 was called to the religious life. On August 16th in Lima, Peru, Brother Joe, along with six other brothers, made his temporary vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, publicly committing himself to the order of Pro Ecclesia Sancta, and received the cassock (their habit). Pro Ecclesia Sancta (PES) is a Catholic Religious Congregation founded in Peru in 1992. Brother Joe is now finishing a degree in Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He will go on to study Theology at the St. Paul Seminary, and God willing, be ordained a priest in six years.
“I’m so proud to be able to say that I was formed at Chesterton Academy. I hope Chesterton will continue to be a factory of vocations to holy marriages, to the priesthood, and to the religious life. I pray that Chesterton Academy will be a factory of saints!”
- Br. Joe Barron, Mass of the Holy Spirit, September 2015

Chesterton Academy taught me a greater understanding of the world. I learned of the great philosophers and theologians such as Plato, Aristotle and Aquinas. I learned of the very chemistry, math and physics of the world we live in. I learned of beauty and its great influence through art, music and theater. I learned the great story of man through history and literature. Chesterton Academy taught me about the world but more importantly how to be a man of God in it.

After high school, you are on your own with no one to tell you what to do or when. It’s scary and exciting at the same time. But I knew I was prepared for what life had in store for me by the education and spiritual strength I received from Chesterton Academy. Chesterton provides a family-like environment in which students grow into young Catholic adults ready to face the world.
Elizabeth Rivard, Class of 2014, University of Kentucky, National Merit Scholarship Winner
The trip to Rome was my most inspiring experience. It's difficult to trump witnessing the Installation Mass of Pope Francis, soaking up Assisi, and eating gelato on cobblestone streets. The friends I've made and the books I've read are also a source of joy. After college, I hope to get married and raise a family.
Jacob Hornecker, Class of 2014, St. John Vianney College Seminary, University of St. Thomas
Altar serving at daily Mass has taught me the importance of beautiful liturgy and the joy of working with deacons, priests, and even a bishop.
Rebecca Hess, Class of 2015, Benedictine College
The most formative experience I’ve had at Chesterton Academy was seeing the effect that daily Mass and the sense of community here has had on me and on my peers. We have been presented with all the tools we need to flourish intellectually, artistically and spiritually, and in taking advantage of these opportunities we have all become more fully the Christian adults that God is calling us to be.
