Not only was our Candy Donation Drive a HUGE success, we got to use YOUR CANDY donated by the O’Hara Community in our most recent service project! Our CSC members had the wonderful opportunity to fill Easter Boxes with your candy to give to children over at Ronald McDonald house. What better way to do service during Easter than to give Easter Boxes filled with candy?! If you want to be involved in great service opportunities like this then be sure to sign up in the CSC office. And don’t worry, because if you are not a student but still want to help out then there are plenty of opportunities to give throughout the year!
We just had another wonderful mass with the residents of Divine Providence on Sunday! With Volunteer week being the week before hand, Sister Sue incorporated the O’Hara students into the mass by reading, bringing up gifts, and more! We absolutely love having mass with them on Sundays and we can’t thank them enough for having us!
We have had many Empty Bowl Lunches so far and they have been a huge success. If you don’t know what our Empty Bowls Project is then let us tell you….One day a week during Lent, the students and staff are asked to donate their lunch money - $5.00 – and to join together for a ‘homeless lunch’ – soup, roll, granola bar, bottle of water – in the CSC Office (Room 239). Participants have the option of keeping their EMPTY BOWL as a reminder that there are millions of hungry people throughout the world, and that by participating in this program they are part of a movement to reaffirm the dignity of our homeless brothers and sisters. As of right now the sign up sheets for empty bowls for the months of April and May are up and running in the CSC Office (Room 239) so be sure to stop there to sign up! Our next one is Wednesday, April 10th!
On Saturday, April 20th, CSC members will have the opportunity to serve a continental breakfast at the Ronald McDonald house. It is sure to be a great time and a day full of service so be sure to sign up!
If you get the chance to stop by our office, make sure you sign up for our awesome wiffle ball tournament with Don Guanella and Divine Providence. We usually meet in our office before hand and have pizza and refreshments and then when the residents arrive we will bring them from their buses to the gymnasium. The residents will then either play the field, or bat. Once they hit the ball our CSC members get to help them run the bases and it is so much fun! Be sure to be there and tell your friends!
Our Philabundance Field trip will be happening. Spots are filling up quick so if you are interested make sure you sign up in the CSC Office before all of the spots run out!
