All Seniors, regardless of when they registered at O’Hara, have the following summer assignments:

Chesterton Scholar Program Theology: You are required to purchase and annotate Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis ISBN #978-0060652920 in preparation for assignments and discussions in class. Any version will do. Remember, annotation means that in addition to highlighting and underlining, you circle and look up hard vocabulary, mark interesting/significant points within the story, and record your reaction to the text in the margins. You will use this material in class during the first week of school with your Theology teacher.

ELA – For the summer reading requirement this year, each student will be asked to read a book aligned with the curriculum of the year he/she is entering. Students, including transfer and incoming freshmen, are asked to complete the reading before the first day of school.  Each teacher will discuss and assess the books  during the first quarter for a major grade.  All students, regardless of date of admission, are required to complete the summer reading assignment. Please see the English Department letter for more information.

Chesterton Scholar Program - Modern Literature 12: Please read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. ISBN #9781586171384. Complete the Study Guide on looseleaf (handwritten) prior to the first day of school. You will not need to annotate this book, so a copy from the library will do. You will discuss it with your Literature teacher throughout the first week of school and an assessment will be given on its content.

Mathematics – You must complete the Delta Math Assignment.  Please refer to the information and instructional video provided by the math department.  Those taking Precalculus, Algebra II, or Geometry must also complete the Math/Numbers Based Article Review.

Creative Writing - Your assignment over the summer is to create a notebook for yourself. More information about this can be found in the Creative Writing Assignment Letter.

AP Literature - Your summer assignments are listed on the AP 2024-2025 Schoology page. Please join the page and read the AP English assignment letter.

AP Biology- Your assignments over the summer will be to complete the assignments found in the attached letter. Click here to review the assignment for the summer. Please reach out to kmarkley@cohs.com with any questions.

AP Psychology - Students in AP Psych for the 2024-25 school year have been invited to the 2024 Summer AP Psychology Schoology course by email. Assignments will be posted periodically throughout the summer. If there are any questions or difficulties accessing the Schoology course, please reach out to Mrs. Commale at pcommale@cohs.com.
