We are rooted in Gospel values, and committed to developing productive and moral young men and women. With O’Hara’s mission statement as our philosophy, we utilize and implement a holistic approach to counseling. We are dedicated to creating lifelong learners prepared to lead with confidence, to serve with compassion and to positively contribute in an ever changing and challenging society.
Our Guidance Staff is specially trained to help students be the most productive and successful student they can be. Common issues that counselors can help with are:
- Solutions to problems
- Challenges to growing up
- Understanding and appreciating who you are
- Personal problems that affect attitude and performance
- Social issues, how to deal with peer pressure and bullying
- Academic success, including course selection and study skills
- Plans for the future
We have five counselors and one full time school psychologist employed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. We find it important to stay within the American School Counselor Association student/counselor ratio of approximately 1 counselor to 250 students. We each bring our unique background and experiences to our department such as mental health, career exploration and college expertise.
