Barbara Rolls McCaffrey Class of 1968
Barbara McCaffrey is a 1968 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Collingdale and graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Morton. Barbara is a graduate of West Chester University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. In addition, she has earned an associates degree in insurance.
Barbara is married to Bob McCaffrey and she spent the early years of her married life as an Air Force wife. They were stationed at March Air Force Base in California and later McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas. As an Air Force wife during the difficult days of the Vietnam War, Barbara came to realize that education does not always come from books, and that life experiences are vital in developing who you become as a person. One of the happiest moments for Barbara and Bob was the birth of their daughter Michelle while in the Air Force.
Returning to Glenolden after their Air Force duties, Bob and Barbara’s second daughter, Danielle, was born. Barbara now began her time as a stay at home mom. While her children attended Our Lady of Fatima School, she served two terms as President of the Home and School Association. During that time she also chaired the annual Christmas Bazaar.
Barbara became a substitute teacher and eventually taught full-time at St. George’s in Glenolden, where she taught fifth and sixth grade. As the children got older, she made the decision to leave education and enter the corporate world. Initially she worked in the claims department at Aetna Property and Casualty Company. Currently Barbara is the Client Service Director for the state of Pennsylvania for the Principal Financial Group. Her duties include overseeing offices in King of Prussia and Pittsburgh. Her responsibilities include coordinating internal workflow, staff development and maintaining the customer service needs of Principal’s clients.
During her years as a teacher and insurance professional, she has served as a volunteer at many levels, including fourteen years as secretary of the O’Hara Alumni Association. Barbara has served on or has chaired a number of committees for the Alumni Association and The Home and School Association, among them: The Golf Outing, All-Class Reunion, Four Class Reunion and Fashion Show.
She fondly remembers her days as a student at O’Hara singing in the Glee Club, attending Future Teacher Meetings and watching Bob play football. Barbara’s education at O’Hara helped form the cornerstone of her faith today. Love of God, family, community and country are all part of Barbara’s life.
For her service to Cardinal O’Hara High School, we proudly welcome Barbara Rolls McCaffrey into the Cardinal O’Hara High School Hall of Fame.

Bob and Mary Gene are the first husband and wife to be nominated to our Hall of Fame.
For their outstanding generosity, their concern for the well-being of people from all walks of life and their loyalty to their Alma Mater, we are proud to welcome Bob and Mary Gene Woods to the Cardinal O’Hara High School Hall of Fame.

Donna Farrell Class of 1982
Donna Crilley Farrell is a 1982 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School. She attended The University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the Annenberg School of Communications.
During her time at O’Hara, Donna was an athlete, a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the cheerleaders and class president for three years. Some of her fondest memories include cheering at a championship game at Veterans Stadium, participating in field day events at Don Guanella School, and playing for one of the first ever O’Hara field hockey teams.
Writing and communications are the foundation of her career and she notes with pride, the lessons learned in an entertaining and memorable way from Mr. Kenig and Mr. McCarron. While these English teachers solidified a love of language, Mr. Fulcomer and Father Corkery brought history to life.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Donna worked for several years in New York City for NBC. During the mid 1980s, while many people her age were spending Saturday nights watching Saturday Night Live, Donna was an NBC page working on the show just off camera. She also helped produce and write for NBC News at Sunrise.
In 1988, Donna moved from behind the camera to a job in front of it, when she became a television reporter and news anchor. Her career in TV news took her to Binghamton, New York, Scranton, Pennsylvania and eventually back home to the Philadelphia area.
Her next challenge came in 1999 when she joined the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of Communications. In 2005, she accepted Cardinal Justin Rigali’s invitation to become the Director of Communications and spokesperson for the archdiocese. Since then, she has launched Gospel Reflections, featuring Cardinal Rigali, on the video-sharing web-site You Tube, and facilitated media coverage in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia following the death of Pope John Paul II. This included numerous press conferences and more than forty network interviews by the Cardinal in the week leading up to the election of Pope Benedict XVI.
Donna lives in Springfield with her husband Michael and their three year old twins, Connor and Christina.
For her outstanding service to the Church of Philadelphia, her professionalism, and her loyalty to her Alma Mater, we are proud to welcome Donna M. Farrell into the Cardinal O’Hara High School Hall of Fame.
