Quick Facts about Graduation and Baccalaureate

Our Graduation involves two ceremonies, The Baccalaureate Mass and the Commencement Exercises.  Attendance at both ceremonies is required of all seniors.

All obligations must be met before a senior receives their graduation materials. Announcements and thank you cards will be distributed later in the spring.

Tickets will be distributed with graduation gowns on Monday, June 1, 2014.

Each eligible senior receives two (2) tickets for the Baccalaureate Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul on Tuesday evening, June 2nd. at 7:00 p.m.  Students must be in the Cathedral Chapel no later than 6:30.  The graduate procession will begin at 6:50.

Parents  are encouraged to arrive at the Cathedral no later than 6:45. Admission is by ticket only.  The doors to the Cathedral will open at 6:15.  Please enter the Cathedral from the front doors only.  No one will be admitted without a ticket.

Seating is limited at the Cathedral. The 2 ticket limit is set to ensure that all parents have seats.  There are no extra tickets available for Baccalaureate Mass. As you enter the Cathedral, please follow the directions of the ushers.

Each eligible senior receives up to six (6) tickets for the Commencement Exercises at Villanova, Wednesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.  Admission is by ticket only.  No one will be admitted without a ticket.

Each student will be given  two (2) reserved tickets for parents and four (4) tickets for general seating.  Your reserved seats will be located in the section closest to where your graduate is seated.  The tickets will be for specific seats.

A maximum of two (2) additional general seating tickets can be obtained through a written request by the parents of the graduate.  Due to the length of the ceremony, we recommend that small children not attend the Commencement exercises.

The graduates must be in Nevin's Fieldhouse no later than 1:00.  The doors to The Pavilion open at 1:15.  If you are not traveling with a graduate, to be on time for the ceremony you should be getting out of your car in the parking lot no later than 1:20. Parents are urged to travel to the ceremony with their graduate.  Over the years our graduation has caused a traffic problem in the Villanova area. If we bring fewer cars into the area, we will all arrive and leave much more quickly.

After entering The Pavilion, please follow the directions of the ushers regarding seating.  The ushers will provide you with programs.  The graduates' guests are not permitted on the floor of the arena at any time.

The ceremony should conclude before 4:00.  At the end of the ceremony, please  remain in your places until all the graduates have left. The graduates will report to Nevin  to receive their diplomas. Parents should plan to meet their grad in front of Nevin on Lancaster Avenue or in the parking lot.  Only the graduates are permitted in Nevin.

The ceremonies should be joyous but also solemn.  We ask you to cooperate with the directions you will receive from the master of ceremonies during both Baccalaureate and Commencement particularly those regarding when applause is appropriate.  We hope to join with you in making graduation an occasion we all remember fondly for many years to come.
