Thank you very much for attending our All-Class Football Reunion, this past Saturday Night at Barnaby’s in Havertown!!!

It was great to see everyone!!! We want to get The O’Hara Football Alumni Group up & running, & running strong!!! You will be receiving an e-mail from me next week about our upcoming events!!! For our Program to be a Catholic League & State Power, we are going to need a Strong Alumni behind us!!!

Our young men are Quality Student-Athletes, in which we take great pride in!!! For the second year in a row, Cardinal O’Hara High School was the most well represented program in the state on The PAFootballNews.com All-Academic Team!!! In 2011 we placed 13 players on the team!!! This past season we placed 19 players on the team!!!

Damiere Shaw’12 & The Temple Owls will kickoff their season on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Notre Dame!!!

We have four O’Hara Alums that will be starting for West Chester University this fall: DL Anthony McCloskey’09, SS Drew Formica’11, TE Shawn Driggins’11, & WR Adam Dempsey’11!!!

Congrats to Senior OL Tyler Dinnella who was honored last week as a top scholar-athlete by The National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame!!!

Congrats to Senior WR/DB Joe Demaio who was honored by The Maxwell Club as a Mini-Max winner!!!

Congrats to Senior WR Tarron Dunbar who had 2 catches for the East Team in their 47-28 win over the West squad in the 12^th Annual East-West State All-Star Game!!!

Congrats to the following Seniors who will represent O’Hara in the Delco Hero Bowl: OL Carmen Cervella, OL Tyler Dinnella, LB Nick Moriconi, WR Tarron Dunbar, and DB Joe Demaio. The game will take place on Thursday, May 31, 2013 at Widener University!!! Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm!!!

Corey Brown’10 will start for The Ohio State University Buckeyes at WR!!! Corey is considered one of the top Wide-Outs in the country!!!

Matt Williams’10 is the starting Center for James Madison University!!!

Casey Strus’11 is the starting Center for Lycoming College!!!

Mike Huf’10 is starting at DE for Navy!!!

Ryan Laughlin’11 will be the starting QB for The College of The Holy Cross!!!

O’Hara Junior K/P Steve Weyler picked up his first offer from Villanova University!!! Congrats to Steve & his family!!!

O’Hara Junior TB/DB JT Blyden has picked up offers from UMass, Army, & Rutgers!!! Congrats to JT & his family!!!

At a surprise announcement ceremony before the entire O'Hara faculty and student body at the Renaissance Rally on May 2nd, Coach Dan Algeo and representatives from the U.S. Army announced that junior Thaddius Smith, WR-DB, has been selected as a Finalist for the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game. Final selection of the ninety players chosen to play in the game, scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Alomodome in San Antonio, Texas, will be announced this Fall. Thadd joins the likes of O'Hara Alumni Kevin Jones and Tom Savage, who played in the All-American game when they were seniors, and John Dempsey who was selected as a Finalist. Thadd has committed to play college football at Boston College.

Congratulations to Senior Tyler Dinnella who has been chosen to be a recipient of a Scholar-Athlete Award presented by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame!! Tyler will be honored on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Villanova University!!

Best of luck to Senior Tarron Dunbar who will represent O'Hara this Sunday in the 12th Annual East-West PA State All-Star Game, which will be played at Downingtown West High School. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm!!

On behalf of Coach Algeo and the entire coaching staff, thank you to everyone who helped make the first-ever night football game at O'Hara possible.

It was a tough loss, and although the outcome didn't go our way, it was still a very special and memorable night, one which the players will cherish forever. The boys represented all the Lions Football Players before them that dreamt of this night - playing on a Friday night under the lights at home at Lions Stadium. . . the boys brought pride to O'Hara and played with heart.

This first-ever night game wouldn't have been possible without the entire Lions Football Family stepping up, so enthusiastically, to help. From setting up and cleaning up; working in the Snack Bar; selling spirit wear, t-shirts, ad books and benefit tickets; working the chains; handling security . . . everyone was awesome and showed O'Hara what a great Football Program we have. Thank you to everyone for your support, enthusiasm and hard work. Thank you, also, to all the people behind the scenes who worked tirelessly, on our behalf, to make night games at O'Hara a reality.
